I am a Japanese artisan based in Sydney. Since I moved to Australia, I have been loving and always appreciating the beautiful colours of nature.
The word irodori is used to mean ‘colours’, ‘brightness’, or ‘beauty’ in everyday Japanese. Since ancient times, Japanese people have always had a special appreciation for colours. There are over 500 traditional colours in Japan, each with a deep connection to nature. Ther represent the changing seasons, animals, plants or landscapes.
Each simple but unique creation is inspired by the colours of nature and the flow of the seasons, as well as the traditional patterns and colours of Japan.
